AI For Copywriting: Should You Use Articifial Intelligence For Your Copywriting?

If you’re like most business owners, you’re more than likely using AI to streamline processes. And that’s great. AI is a fantastic tool for accelerating tasks, increasing efficiency, and improving productivity. But what about AI for copywriting? Can you use it for your content and copywriting needs? Well, the answer is yes. Of course, you can.

However, whether doing so is beneficial for your business is another story. And that’s what we’re covering in today’s blog. Namely, 3 reasons why you shouldn’t outsource (all of) your copywriting needs to artificial intelligence. Keep reading to learn more.

1. AI Lies And Plagerizes

AI for copywriting seems like a good idea on the surface.

However, one of the biggest problems with AI is that it lies and plagiarizes content. And when you stop and think about it, it kind of makes sense. After all, the reason these bots can disseminate content so rapidly is that they’re scanning the web (based on your prompt) for content that’s already been created.

As a result, AI is essentially just regurgitating old information in a different way.

What’s worse, many times, it simply makes things up. And if you’re a savvy business owner interested in maintaining your reputation, then you need to be aware of AI’s tendency to both fabricate and plagiarize information.

2. AI Lacks Personality

Having a unique brand voice and personality is a necessity in marketing today.

It allows you to differentiate your brand, build credibility in your company, and connect with your audience. But the problem with AI is its writing outputs are often lifeless and stilted. Now, of course, if you use better prompts, you can get better outputs; however, even then, those outputs will still lack that human touch.

AI outputs are, by their very nature, structured and robotic.

As a result, AI is very limited in its ability to produce engaging, high-quality copy that connects and resonates with your market on an emotional level. In short, it lacks depth and personality. And the results are uncanny: Human copy, by a large margin, outperforms AI-generated copy in every measure and category.

3. AI Can’t Understand Context And Nuance

Imagine having a conversation with a 4-year-old.

Sure, you could communicate with them easily enough. The problem, however, is that a 4-year-old’s mind isn’t developed enough to understand the subtle nuances of intelligent (or even a normal) conversation. As a result, that interaction will be very limited in its level of conversational nuance.

In the same way, AI (while a great tool) is not able to understand subtle distinctions.

While that may not seem like a big deal on the surface, it makes for a very dull and dry copy when you get those outputs. And the result is that your communication will lack that all-important sense of humanness that is essential to create a connection with your audience.

How AI For Copywriting Should Be Used

I understand if I sound completely anti-AI in the post.

But trust me, that’s not the case by any means. In fact, I actually think AI is a great tool that has many advantages. But that’s the thing… AI is a tool. It’s not the end-all, be-all solution to your marketing and content creation woes. You should use it to supplement your marketing efforts, not outsource them entirely.

So when it comes to AI for copywriting, it’s excellent for brainstorming, researching, facilitating creativity, coming up with ideas and inspiration, etc.

This is how AI should be used.

Final Thoughts

AI has changed the world in countless ways, and it’s still only in its infancy.

However, despite its utility, AI cannot replace what a copywriter brings to businesses. A copywriter’s job extends far beyond just delivering words in a Google Doc. We are strategists, marketers, and strategic partners with our clients. These crucial aspects of a copywriter’s role cannot be outsourced to a robot.
